Lignano Pineta S.p.A. was granted a concession of 270,000 square meters, including a 1.2-km beach on the sea front, enclosed by an elevated walkway. The walkway joins up seven "terraces", where you can find bars, toilets, and lukewarm-water showers, as well as the beach offices where you can hire beach umbrellas, deck chairs, sunbeds and beach huts for the season, from the first Saturday of May to the second-last Sunday of September. There are about 4,000 beach umbrellas, including those reserved to hotels and apartment lease agencies, and those available to private customers. Deck-chairs and sunbeds are mostly aluminum-framed. The seven bathing stations or "terraces" are numbered, and marked by a flag. On the beach and in the water, all guests are guaranteed an attentive and qualified rescue service and assistance to bathers. On the beach, there are playgrounds for children, too. The elevated walkway, which offers a splendid view over the beach, includes very roomy masonry beach huts and a few commercial areas, offering complementary services (tobacconist's, newsagent's, general store etc.). Between the third beach office (British flag) and the fourth one (Italian flag), there is a first-aid service for bathers, run by the S.O.G.IT. and supported by Lignano Pineta S.p.A.. Disabled persons can access the walkway by means of an elevator. Other services you can find on the beach are the swimming, windsurf and canoeing schools, and the hirers of rowboats or pedal boats, windsurfers and canoes. During the summer, entertainment activities are organized during the summer, such as soft gymnastics and aqua gym. Between the first beach office (Dutch flag) and the second one (German flag), and between the third one (British flag) and the fourth one (Italian flag), "elite" sectors have been set up. These feature: different beach equipment, with white pagoda-shaped umbrellas and sunbeds with cushions and sunshades; more room available around each umbrella; and a few additional services, such as the availability of a safe-deposit box at the beach office and the presence of a lifeguard even during the lunch time, so that a greater surveillance is guaranteed. Close to the third beach office (British flag), a "sunbed sector" has been set up. It features only sunbeds, with cushion and sunshade, the ideal for young people and for tan fans. A pier reaching into the sea allows a pleasurable walk "over the water" and, from here, the more daring tourists can avail themselves of water entertainments such as the parafly, the "banana boat" and the "doughnut". Approval rating questionnaires are available for the tourists at the beach offices; the rating of beach services is useful in order to improve their quality and to adjust them to the requirements and requests of the public.
