The company "Lignano Pineta" was born during the fifties together with Lignano Pineta, which is located in the middle of the peninsula belonging to the Lignano Sabbiadoro's municipality (at that time it was still part of the municipality of Latisana). The creation of "Lignano Pineta" is the result of the initiative taken by a group of frioulans entrepreneurs. They carried out an innovative urban project based on a spiral construction idea, designed by the architect Marcello D'Olivo. Several specialised magazines have covered this "spiral"project and it has been praised for its originality and functionality as well as for being environment friendly, having preserved the great majority of the natural landscape and the pinewood. The "snail" construction (or "green spiral") has been integrated in the official flag of the Lignano Sabbiadoro's municipality. Even Ernest Hemingway visited and stayed over in the area, spreading indirectly the word about Lignano, which he liked to call "Italy's Florida". The company "Lignano Pineta" is authorised to run an area of 270.000 m2 that comprises a sandy coastline of around 1,2 km of length right in front of the sea. The entire coastline is embraced by a panoramic walking construction that links seven "round meeting points" where a bar, showers with lukewarm water and toilets are located. "Beach-offices" are also positioned there and they provide for various services such as the rental of beach umbrellas, deck chairs, beds and bathing huts starting on the first Saturday of May up until the last but one Sunday of September. A jetty offers you a pleasant walk "above the sea". In the same area nearby the coastline and the first houses, there is to be found the historical "Tenda Bar", a meeting spot since the sixties; the ristorante and pizzeria "La Granseola"; the bar "Giarabub", which has been recently embellished by a new game-area for children called "I Gommosi", which comprises inflatable games and several other attractions; the bar "Jolly Golf" that sports a 18-holes mini-golf; the new daily babysitting service called "Divertitom" that covers an area of around 3.000 m2 and it is serviced with two wood-booths and a large tent that shall keep save and dry your children during the days of bad weather: a number of games and a delimited area on the beach are at their only disposal. The "Parco del Mare" ("Sea Park"), within the pine forest, surrounds the children's playground ("The Rubbery Ones"). The park includes a fitness path and new pedestrian paths, benches, bicycle holders, flower boxes, wastebaskets and lighting. The pine forest can be better enjoyed thanks to all of the above. A watched-over parking place located in the "lungomare Adriatico" completes the range of services provided by the company "Lignano Pineta S.p.A.". To the company "Lignano Pineta S.p.A." belongs as well the marina situated in Lignano Riviera along the Tagliamento river, called "Marina Uno". It was thoroughly renovated and launched in 1983 and it earned the "blue flag" recognition in 1990. It comprises an excess of 420 reserved areas for boats of various dimensions and it is organised to offer a number of services, including hauling and winter storage, showers and toilets, a bar, a swimming-pool, etc. Within this structure, there is also a 4 star hotel that sports a panoramic restaurant and a fully equipped beauty-center. Nearby "Marino Uno", right on the shore of the river is situated the typical restaurant "Al Cason", well known for its special fish dishes.
